WORKOUT CLUB

The workout club was started to provide HMS students with an opportunity to
learn concepts of strength, flexibility, speed, agility, and plyometrics in a
controlled setting with their peers. Club members will have a warm up and 2
circuits that will consist of 5-6 exercises. The exercises are modeled and
monitored. The goal is to provide information about basic athletic movements
and to work to improve those movements. Each member will start with being
able to perform body weight movements before any resistance training is
added. Form and function of basic athletic movements is the goal. The
equipment that we use: weighted plates 5, 10, 25, and 35lbs., resistance
bands, step boxes, plyometric jump boxes, med balls, Bosu balls, agility
ladders, an entire gymnasium, and aerodyne bicycles. The workouts are selfpaced
and the students may work by themselves or with a group. Working with
a partner is encouraged and opens up more drills and exercises that the
members can participate in.

The time frame will be from 4pm to 5pm. Participants in the workout club will
meet in the lower gym with the bus riders after school. | have bus duty
responsibilities. We will travel together to the upper gym and prepare for our
workout. All Club members will need to have their ride home at the school at
5pm. Any member that does not have a ride at 5pm and the time spent waiting
goes past 5:15pm may be asked not to be in the club. | have responsibilities
beyond 5:15pm and need to get to them.

Workout club members will need to wear athletic closed toed shoes and
athletic workout clothing. Members will have access to the gym locker rooms to
change and to clean up after the workouts. | do suggest having a water bottle
and a healthy snack to refuel after their workout.
